Lee Ufan's Art of Encounter
The title of this piece references Lee Ufan’s explanation that he uses materials just as they are and accepts “the conditions of the space that surrounds them”. To create this piece I built the ceramic enclosure first then found the natural material that would fit properly within it. Various attempts were made using branches and small stumps. This rock was found in my backyard and fits perfectly, accepting the ceramic sculpture that surrounds it.
